In Loving Memory of Victoria Belle Rosendo Aguirre
My beautiful queen, Victoria's beauty was like no other, inside and out. She had a beautiful soul, a gentle heart, and a deep love for animals and the people she held close. She was kind, deeply empathetic, and a true friend. When Victoria loved someone, she loved them wholeheartedly. She was loyal, protective, and always willing to stand beside the people she cared about. She was also a hopeless romantic, just like her mother, with a heart that believed deeply in love and all the beauty it could hold. Victoria felt the emotions of others almost as if they were her own, and her sensitivity came from the tremendous amount of love she carried inside her.
Victoria was my firstborn daughter-the one who first made me a mother and the reason I call her my first love. I became pregnant with her when I was only 18 and gave birth to her at 19. I was a very young mother with so much still to learn, but being Victoria's mom was the greatest honor of my life. We grew up together in so many ways, and she taught me more about love than I ever knew was possible. She gave me an immense kind of love I had never felt before.
From the moment I first laid eyes on her, I wanted Victoria beside me everywhere I went. When I attended El Camino College and she was still very little, I would ride my bike to drop her off before class and pick her up afterward. Some people worried because she was so small, but I loved bringing her along with me. I will always remember riding through Lawndale, listening to music and feeling so cool and proud with my little princess sitting on the back of my bike. Wherever I was, that was where I wanted my beautiful girl to be.
Victoria was the oldest of four girls and the big sister to Abigail, Melody, and Alejandra. Being their big sister will forever be one of the most important parts of who she was. Her little sisters looked up to her, and Victoria had a naturally protective spirit toward the people she considered hers. They will grow up knowing who their big sister was, how much she loved them, and how deeply she will always be loved in return.
Victoria was a true South Bay California girl, born and raised in the community of Lawndale. When she was little, she was a Girl Scout with Troop 3565. She attended puppy camp at spcaLA and participated in folklórico, gymnastics, ballet, and karate in Lawndale. She also learned to play guitar and was always discovering new interests and ways to express herself.
As a little girl, Victoria was my My Little Pony and Hello Kitty girl. I surrounded her with everything pink and showered her with all the love in my heart. As she grew, that sweet little girl blossomed into a beautiful young woman with big, captivating eyes, naturally long eyelashes, beautiful long black hair, and a smooth, warm, sun-kissed complexion-my beautiful morenita. Her unforgettable style made her look like a real-life Bratz doll and a Disney princess all at once. Yet no matter how much her style evolved, she remained my Hello Kitty girl, just like her mom. Hello Kitty became a little thread connecting her childhood to the young woman she was becoming, and now every time we see one, we will carry a piece of Victoria with us.
During COVID, Victoria spent hours playing Fortnite, The Legend of Zelda, and Roblox, especially with her cousin Iris. Those games gave them a place to laugh, connect, and make memories together during a time when the world felt uncertain. She loved Rango, her favorite movie, as well as Spirited Away, Selena, Coraline, and Baddies Club. She laughed at the Vegan Teacher and Skibidi Toilet, made monkey noises to make us laugh, and proudly told us how much she loved rats. Her wonderfully quirky humor was entirely her own and brought laughter into our lives in ways we will never forget.
Victoria's beautiful soul shone through in her creativity. She was naturally artistic and could take an idea from her imagination and turn it into something beautiful through her drawings, paintings, makeup, and nail designs. At only 12 years old, she began her own little nail business on my mom's patio. Even at that young age, she already had the vision, talent, and determination of an entrepreneur. She practiced new designs, created beautiful sets, and transformed that little patio into a place where her creativity could come to life.
Victoria loved makeup, lashes, fashion, beauty, gold jewelry, crystals, beautiful stones, and especially nails. She loved Y2K fashion and carefully put together outfits that reflected her personality. She could be quiet and reserved, but she was never meant to blend in. Victoria had her own presence, her own strong opinions, and a way of seeing the world that belonged entirely to her.
Her beautiful style rubbed off on me. Victoria inspired me to dress better, smell better, style my hair, take care of myself, and understand the importance of looking and feeling my best. She introduced me to Crumbl Cookies, Q Luv, new trends, and fashion brands I might never have looked at twice without her. She brought youth, color, confidence, and beauty into my life.
I know Victoria would have thrived in the beauty industry. She had the talent, creativity, and vision to become a successful beauty entrepreneur. Through her work, she would have helped girls and women of all ages look and feel their best while encouraging them to express their individuality through beauty. Victoria also introduced me to recipes and foods she discovered on TikTok. She made spicy enoki mushrooms, Buldak noodles, jalapeños with cream cheese and a Taki on top, and beef jerky covered in Taki powder. She loved Dr Pepper, Takis-especially the blue ones-Hot Cheetos, and her Grandma Alejandra's tamales and pozole. She loved tinga and mole like her mom and seafood like her dad. She could have protein and oatmeal in the morning and crab legs in the evening. Her favorites included Raising Cane's with extra bread, a Chipotle protein bowl, Wingstop, iced matcha with cold foam, Chick-fil-A with extra Polynesian sauce, the braised beef noodle soup from Din Tai Fung, and pollo chaufa from El Pollo Inka. But Victoria had a special love for street tacos. She loved Doty's Tacos with a churro from beside the taco truck. In Ensenada, when I wanted to take her somewhere fancy, she wanted street tacos instead and told me, with her fearless sense of humor, "The more dangerous the hood, the better the tacos." I will miss the certainty with which she said exactly what she thought, the laughter that followed, and the way she could turn a simple stop for street tacos into one of our happiest memories. I will miss the cupcakes she baked for me, our late-night trips for tacos and churros, and watching her experiment with new recipes. I will even miss her using my debit card to order DoorDash, and I will miss seeing Amazon, TikTok Shop, and SHEIN packages arrive at the house with her little name printed on them. I will miss her "malgastando" my money, as my mom would say. These may sound like ordinary moments, but they were filled with Victoria's personality and are now some of the most precious pieces of our life together.
So much of my heart lives in the time we spent getting our nails done, having massages and facials, shopping, going to Starbucks, Ulta Beauty, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, Mitsuwa, and making late-night Target runs. I will treasure our evenings at Ralphs, Sprouts, and Panera Bread; walking through the South Bay Galleria and Del Amo Mall; visiting TJ Maxx, Burlington, Santee Alley, and the Slauson Mall; and going to Planet Fitness together. I will hold close every visit to Hermosa Beach and the Redondo Beach Pier, every moment watching her put on her makeup and lashes, and every TikTok she made to her favorite songs. More than anything, I will miss simply having her beside me.
Victoria loved animals with the same wholehearted tenderness she gave to the people she loved. Her Chihuahua, Princess, was far more than a pet. Princess was Victoria's little companion throughout her childhood, growing beside her and offering the quiet comfort and unconditional love that only an animal can give.
When Princess passed away, Victoria carried that love forward by welcoming Simba and Chloe into her heart. She cared for them tenderly, spoiled them, worried about them, and found peace in having them near her. Simba and Chloe remain deeply loved members of our family and will always carry a connection to Victoria.
In a beautiful way, each of Victoria's animals seemed to carry a piece of her personality. Simba reflected her fierceness, courage, and mischievous side, while Chloe shared her diva spirit, playfulness, and love of attention. Princess carried the tenderness, loyalty, and quiet companionship that remained at the center of Victoria's heart. The bonds she shared with them revealed some of the purest and most beautiful parts of her soul.
Victoria loved baking, and I always told her that baking was for people who were full of love. Cooking can feed you because you need to eat, but baking is different-you make something simply because you want to create something sweet for someone else. It is food made out of love. And that was Victoria. Music was a powerful part of Victoria's life, and her taste was as bold, beautiful, and multidimensional as she was. She loved Banda, Nicki Minaj, Deftones, Michael Jackson, Stunna Girl, Cardi B, City Girls, Jhené Aiko, SPM, Aventura, Jenni Rivera, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Gloria Trevi, and Selena Quintanilla. Selena especially inspired Victoria's style. She admired her beauty, femininity, confidence, talent, and the way she remained completely herself. Victoria could move from Banda to Deftones to Nicki Minaj, and every song revealed another beautiful part of her spirit.
I will forever cherish her excitement as she chose her pink wig for the Stunna Girl concert and expressed herself so confidently. Those memories will live inside me forever. They will continue feeding my soul and giving me strength whenever I need to feel close to my beautiful girl.
Victoria loved Mexico and was deeply proud of her Mexican heritage. She loved its music, traditions, culture, food, beauty, and devotion to family. Mexico was not simply a place she enjoyed visiting; it lived within her and connected her to her family, her history, and the generations who came before her. Her pride was so genuine and contagious that she could make everyone around her feel proud of where we came from.
My dad had the honor of showing Victoria Mexico City and taking her shopping there, and I had the honor of exploring Ensenada with her. One of Victoria's dreams was to live in Mexico City with me. I hope that wherever her next journey has taken her, she is having the most beautiful time-shopping at the tianguis and high-end malls, riding horses like she did in Ensenada, exploring the city, and eating street tacos with an ice-cold horchata. I hope our ancestors welcomed her with open arms and that she is surrounded by all the color, music, beauty, family, and love she carried so proudly.
Victoria dreamed of celebrating her quinceañera-choosing her beautiful dress, wearing her crown, selecting her music, dancing, taking pictures, and being surrounded by everyone who loved her as they celebrated the young woman she was becoming.
My beautiful queen is forever 15. With Victoria, we mourn not only the beautiful life she lived, but an entire future filled with moments that already lived in our hearts: her quinceañera, her Sweet 16, her graduation, her first job, the growth of her nail business, and the day I would have placed the keys to her first car in her hands. We imagined her traveling, building a successful beauty career, falling in love, and creating a beautiful life of her own.
Victoria dreamed of becoming a mother one day and wanted to be a girl mom. I can only imagine the love, style, strength, and tenderness she would have poured into her daughter. She would have dressed her beautifully, taught her to express herself, protected her fiercely, and loved her with her whole heart. I would have loved my granddaughter beyond measure, spoiled her endlessly, and treasured every little piece of Victoria that lived within her.
Victoria was not given the time to become the mother she dreamed of being, but she poured that same nurturing love into Princess, Simba, and Chloe and was so proud to be their dog mom. We will forever carry the dreams of the woman, beauty entrepreneur, wife, and mother our Victoria was still becoming.
Victoria was also a cherished member of the special education community-a community of remarkable young people whose unique ways of learning, feeling, communicating, and experiencing life expand our understanding of what intelligence, beauty, and human potential can look like.
Victoria also fought a battle with her mental health that was heavier than many people could see or understand. Her struggles were real, but they never made her difficult to love. A child who experiences or communicates life differently is not a difficult child; she is a child asking the world to listen more closely, understand more deeply, and respond with greater patience, compassion, and care.
What made Victoria different was woven into what made her extraordinary: her creativity, empathy, sensitivity, individuality, humor, and singular way of seeing the world. Her story should change the way we approach children with special needs and mental-health struggles. May it remind us that no label can measure a child's worth, no diagnosis can contain her possibilities, and no difference could ever make her less deserving of protection, understanding, opportunity, or unconditional love.
Victoria was a complete and remarkable person whose heart, mind, humor, gifts, and future could never be contained by any label. The world still has so much to learn from young people like Victoria and so much growing to do in understanding, supporting, and celebrating them fully.
Victoria was a daughter. A big sister. A granddaughter. A niece. A cousin. A friend. An artist. A baker. A proud dog mom. A gamer. A music lover. A Hello Kitty girl. A future beauty entrepreneur. A hopeless romantic. A proud Mexican American girl. A beautiful 15-year-old with dreams and an entire future still living inside her.
She was wonderfully quirky, with her own expressions, strong opinions, and jokes that could make the people closest to her laugh. She was a proud November Scorpio and carried that Scorpio intensity, loyalty, mystery, and strength with pride.
Victoria's story is so much greater than her final days. Her story is the love she gave, the beauty she created, the dreams she carried, her quirky personality and jokes, the laughter she shared, and the countless ways she changed our lives simply by being here.
We will remember her baking in the kitchen, blasting her music, loving her animals, painting and creating, doing her makeup and lashes, making TikToks, trying new recipes, doing my nails, dreaming about her business, talking about her quinceañera, laughing with her sisters and Chloe, and simply being Victoria.
Since I became a mother as a teenager, I have never known my life without my girl beside me. Through every age, every struggle, every joy, and every chapter, it was always Victoria and me. She once told me that wherever I was, that was home to her. The truth is that she was home to me, too.
The world was not always gentle with us. At times, it felt cruel and made our path harder than it ever should have been. But even when life did not give us safety or ease, Victoria and I found belonging in each other. Home was never just a place-it was knowing that through everything, we still had one another.
One of Victoria's last requests was to go to Mexico with me. I wish with all my heart that I could have taken her. She also always asked me to try a crab boil with her, and I wish we had finally gotten to share one together. I promised to take her to the Selena Museum, too. I hope that one day, when my beautiful Victoria finally comes to get me, the first things we can do are travel to Mexico, visit Selena's museum, and finally have that crab boil together.
Until then, I pray she is somewhere this cruel world can no longer hurt her-free, peaceful, and living her best little life. I picture her traveling everywhere with her little Princess beside her, just as she once rode everywhere with me. I hope they found each other again and are exploring somewhere beautiful, surrounded by the safety, joy, and love they both deserve.
Victoria was like a butterfly-beautiful and gentle, but carrying a strength inside her that people did not always see. Her life was far too short, but the love she gave did not leave this world with her.
Whenever a butterfly passes us, whenever we hear one of her songs, see Hello Kitty or a tiny Kewpie doll, smell something baking, watch one of her favorite movies, see beautiful nails or makeup, visit Mexico, walk beside the ocean, or sit peacefully with our feet in the sand, we will think of Victoria.
We will carry her through every birthday, every holiday, every graduation, every family gathering, and every milestone she should have been here to experience. We will speak her name, tell her stories, and make sure she is never forgotten. Every day, through the ways we honor her, we will continue reminding our beautiful girl that she was loved and that she remains loved beyond measure.
Victoria is still with us-in our hearts, our memories, her sisters, and every life she touched.
Victoria remains one of our family's greatest treasures.
Victoria was the first of my four beautiful queens, their precious big sister, and forever our queen of queens.
Victoria was, is, and always will be deeply, completely, and endlessly loved.
My beautiful queen, my treasure, my beauty, my first love, and my girl will be forever 15, forever beautiful, and forever ours.
Until we see you again, Victoria. 🦋
De pequeña, Victoria era mi niña de My Little Pony y Hello Kitty.
