Mary Reina Muro

Muro, Mary Reina (Dec, 1931 - Sept 10, 2020) passed away peacefully in her Torrance home at the age of 89. She was born in Ruby AZ and moved to Los Angeles in 1936. Mary was married to John Estrada Muro in 1948 for 25 years and raised their 3 children in Lawndale and Torrance. She completed her high school diploma at Torrance High and followed her curiosity to classes from philosophy & herbology to Toastmasters. Mary’s held retail & secretarial positions and retired after nannying for the Viviani family for 15 years.Mary was a skilled tailor, an accomplished painter, mastered cake making & vegetable carving and taught her family to make tamales. She enjoyed camping, stargazing, gardening, and finding faces or images in clouds and mountains. Mary was a member of the Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living for many years and participated in a variety of courses and activities there.Mary is predeceased in death by her parents Raul G. & Josephina Monarque; siblings Angie, Della, Nellie, Jessie, Angie & Edmundo; and granddaughter Cheryl. She is survived by her siblings Lilly, Manuel, Ernie, Arthur & Benny; her 3 children and their spouses Christine & Bill, Greg & Christy and John & Mary; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.Due to COVID-19 burial is at the discretion of the family, instead the family asks that friends and family do a random act of kindness in her name.
