Liselotte Walther

August 26, 1939 — September 16, 2023

Liselotte Walther - Lotte - Mom - Oma - Omi, 84, passed away September 16, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Karl and Emma Ziegler in 1939 in Mannheim, Germany. She came to the United States in 1953 at the age of 13 to live with her Aunt. She met the love of her life, Karl Walther, shortly after her arrival and they were united in marriage on December 21, 1956. Lotte and Karl moved to Torrance in 1962 and all their children graduated from TUSD. Lotte worked in the early years of their marriage to help put Karl through school at UCLA. She then devoted her life to providing a loving home to her husband and four children.

Lotte enjoyed quilting and shared that hobby with many family members and friends, using the opportunity to socialize and bond. She poured her love into the quilts she made and gifted many to family and friends. She spent many years sewing quilts for foster children and donated hundreds of quilts over the years to the Department of Children's Services in Los Angeles County; the program was near and dear to her heart.

Lotte also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlepoint and teaching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the art of handwork. Lotte loved travelling to Germany and Europe, cruises, a good road trip, and camping with family and friends. Lotte was a very active member of the Los Hermanas Service Club at the Torrance South Bay YMCA.

Lotte is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Karl Walther and her children Sandy Walther Zielomski (Kirk), Sue Walther McIlvaine (Paul), Michael Walther (Edie), Bradley Walther (Tasha), her 11 grandchildren Michelle Zielomski McEwan, Keith Zielomski (Melanie), Erin McIlvaine Colantuono (Joe), Heather McIlvaine (Cieran), Samantha Walther Zelada (Leo), Sarah Walther, Molly McIlvaine, Lilith Walther, Jacob (Jake) McIlvaine, Brandon Walther (Alicia), Chloe Trepanier and 8 great grandchildren, Mia McEwan, Micah McEwan, Evelyn Zelada, Wesley Zielomski, Jackson Zelada, Eleanor Colantuono, Bradley Zielomski, Josephine Colantuono. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter Talia Zelada.
