Obituary

Jose Dasalla Lagmay was born on June 17, 1937, in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, in the home built by his father, Aniceto Lagmay. He was the youngest child of Aniceto and Eulalia Dasalla Lagmay.

An outstanding student, Jose graduated as Salutatorian of his high school class and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the Philippine College of Criminology, where he received recognition for his academic excellence. In 1966, he immigrated to the United States and proudly became a naturalized citizen in 1972.

On August 20, 1966, he married Pastora Cabras Callejo. They were married for 35 years until her passing in 2004. Together they raised their children, Michael and Jennifer, in Harbor City, California.

Jose worked as a Pharmacy Technician before dedicating 28 years of service to Blue Cross of California. He was a devoted father who faithfully attended his son's sporting events and carefully preserved family memories through photographs and albums.

A devout Christian, Jose served as worship leader at Christian Families Ministries, the church founded by his brother Juan D. Lagmay. He loved to sing and, alongside his wife, ministered to hospice patients and families, bringing comfort through prayer and song.

Jose was known for his sharp mind, love of writing poetry, strong command of the English language, and meticulous appearance. He valued God, family, and education.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Nikki) and Jennifer; his grandchildren, Timothy (Katherine), Jacob, and Christian; and his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Freya.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
