Jeanne Mitchell

April 14, 1940 — September 7, 2021

Jeanne Marie Mitchell
April 14, 1940-September 7, 2021
Jeanne was born to her loving parents Julia and Leslie Steigh on April 14th, 1940 in Los Angeles, California and passed away on September 7, 2021 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Jeanne grew up on 254th street in Lomita, surrounded by her parents, younger sister, grandparents, and extended family. She loved family holidays and days spent at Redondo Beach. She graduated from Narbonne High School in 1958, and always spoke fondly of her school years. She married Robert Mitchell that same year. They were married for 34 years and had two sons, Joe and Mike. Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper for her father at Lomita Feed and as a noon aide at John Adams Elementary in Torrance. Jeanne and Bob relocated to Tehachapi, California, then again to Lake Havasu City.
Jeanne met her partner, Dave Ross in 1992, and they moved to Yuma, Arizona. Jeanne and Dave enjoyed day trips to Algodones, traveling throughout Arizona and New Mexico, and spending summers in Puerto Peñasco. Jeanne thoroughly documented each trip and mailed numerous postcards to her grandkids.
Family was most important to Jeanne. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and devoted much of her life to them. Even when she was not able to spend time with them, she enjoyed keeping up with all of their activities from a distance, noting their appointments, school events, and other special occasions in her calendar. She acknowledged each holiday with a special greeting card, and created books upon books of photos of her grandkids. She also enjoyed shopping, sunbathing, long walks, lunches out with friends, and researching family history for the extensive genealogy books she compiled.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her sister Joanne Stephens, parents Julia and Leslie Steigh, and former husband Robert Mitchell.
Jeanne is survived by her partner Dave Ross of Yuma, Arizona, son Joe Mitchell (Teresa) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, son Mike Mitchell (Sandy) of Parker, Arizona, grandchildren Brook Taff (Robert), Robert Mitchell (Tiffany), Curt Mitchell, and Trevor Mitchell, great-grandchildren Maximus, Owen, Analiese, and Elliott, cousin Gary Steigh (Linda), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was loved by everyone that knew her, and she will never be forgotten. Our family would like to thank Jeanne's daughter-in-law Teresa Mitchell for tirelessly caring for Jeanne's needs in her final months.
Private Services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
