Jack Brandon Rogers, a cherished resident of Torrance, California, passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.
Jack was born September 2nd 1936, in Inglewood, California. He grew up in Torrance with a strong work ethic and an adventurous spirit. He attended Morningside High School. He served in the Army for two years as a young adult. He attended USC and was the first of his family to graduate college and loved his Trojans. After graduating from college, he worked side by side with his father at the family display business. He carried on this family tradition with his sons, Damon and Ryan, working side by side with them for over 45 years at Roger’s Displays.
He met and married Evelynn Clinton. They had two boys, Damon and Ryan who they raised in Torrance. Jack barely took any time off from work, but when he did, they continued family tradition and went to enjoy the great outdoors - camping and fishing. He taught both his boys how to fish the Owens river and valleys, just as his father did before him. Jack demonstrated and taught his boys how to work hard, fish hard and be kind to others.
Later in life Jack met and married the love of his life Betty Orloski on January 24, 1987. Betty and Jack lived in Torrance and continued to raise their expanded family of 4 boys - Paul, John, Damon and Ryan. Jack loved fishing, his family, the Trojans and the Lord. Not necessarily in that order. He was a kind, humble man who also helped raise his nieces Kelli and Candi. He also took care of his parents and sister before their passing. He loved to read the daily paper and sent articles to friends and family to keep them informed of what’s happening in Torrance.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Vesta and William Jackson, “Jack” Rogers, his sister Arly Jahn, ex-wife Evelyn Pellitier and son Damon Rogers.
He is survived by his wife Betty Rogers, son Ryan Rogers, step sons Paul and John Orloski, their wives Kelly, Starla, and Janet, and numerous grandkids -Dylan, Eli, Trevor, Precillia, Tracy, Matthew, Eric, Marc, Kyle.
Jack will be remembered for his dry wit, gentle ways, fishing skills, devotion to family and friends, and his faithfulness to our Savior. He resided most of his life in Torrance and will be missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
