Ismael was born in Camaguey, Cuba to Reynaldo Reyes and Esther Ayala Dominguez. Ismael married Graciela Reyes on March 17, 1973 in Guanabacoa, Cuba. They were married for 50 years.
Ismael leaves behind his four (4) children, Ricardo Reyes, Ismael Reyes Jr., Daisy Valdes, and Osmara Reyes-Osorio, plus 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
