Gurino "Gene" Lavezzari, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Torrance, California on March 9, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lucille, and daughter Jeannie Lynn. Gene is survived by his sister Gloria Hill; his sons John Joseph and wife Gail, and Richard Eugene and wife Lynn; seven grandchildren: Brian (Jina), Eric (Jessica), Jennifer (Clint), Nicole (Stephen), Matthew (Lisa), Ashley, and Alexander; and 10 great-grandchildren: Ashlynn, Mark, Benjamin, Alyssa, Ryan, Thomas, Caleb, Leila, Nicholas, and Reese. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Gene will forever be remembered for his devotion to family, friends, country and faith. He was always ready to sit down and have a cup of coffee with all who showed up at his door and enjoyed sharing a hearty meal with family and friends. He was a proud veteran who served in WWII with the Merchant Marines and served in the Korean War with the United States Army. He supported many different veteran groups throughout his life and was incredibly patriotic and proud of his Italian American family linage.
A service for Gene will be held at Nativity Catholic Church on Saturday April 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m, 1447 Engracia Ave, Torrance, CA., 90501 with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Family Support Project at: www.wwfs.org
