It is with great sadness that the Lucero Family announces the passing of Gilberto Lucero, 71, of Lomita, California. He passed away in his home on February 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
Gilberto Lucero, known to family and friends as Gilbert, was born to Antonio and Maria Lucero, on June 22,1953, in El Paso, Texas, and was one of nine children. He moved to California at a young age and was raised in Wilmington, California.
Gilbert worked as the Head Custodian at Saint Margaret Mary, and was a part of the parish for 43 plus years.
Gilbert's loving spirit, will be carried on by his wife, Rebecca Lucero, to whom he married on April 22,1972 at the age of 18. He also left behind four daughters, Emma, Mandy (Raymond), Mindy (Raul), and Adriana (Ryan); along with his ten grandchildren, their partners; and four great-grandchildren.
Gilbert was not only an amazing Husband/Father/Grandfather/Brother; but also a great friend. He always lent a helping hand and did not think twice about it. His love and impact on others will be missed dearly.
To Honor Gilbert, a Viewing will be held at Coastal Funeral Center, Lomita, on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The following day, March 4, 2025, a Mass will be held at Saint Margaret Church, at 11:00 a.m. After Mass, everyone will make their way to Green Hills Cemetery, where Gilbert will be laid to rest.
