Esther Camacho Vizcarra was born on September 8, 1940 to Maria de Los Angeles Gamez Zazueta and Sabino Roman Camacho in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. She was the youngest of eight children. 

Upon completion of secondary school at the age of 15 she enrolled in the Academia Gregg de Comercio, a vocational school where she learned the necessary skills to become an administrative assistant. Upon her graduation at age 16, she was hired and began working as an Administrative Assistant at the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social. At the age of 23 she traveled to California where she met and married Rigoberto Estrada Vizcarra after a two-week courtship. She remained married to him for over 51 years until the day of his passing. Esther was diagnosed with dementia in 1999 and had lived with her daughter Evelyn and her husband Michael Valdovinos for the last 4 years. She leaves behind her three children; grandchildren Harmony Vizcarra, Bianca Valdovinos Lopez, Caterina Valdovinos and Eddie Valdovinos; and her great-grandson Misael Valdovinos-Lopez.
