Eleanor N. Stockinger, 97, of Harbor City, CA entered her heavenly home on June 14, 2023. Eleanor was born on December 26, 1925 to William and Theresa Farley in Rocky River, Ohio. She was the sixth of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Teresa and William Farley; four sisters, Eileen Reed, Lucille Bailey, Cecelia Stober, and Betty Esch; three brothers, William, James and Thomas Farley; one niece, Kathleen Phelps, three nephews Richard Stober, Steven Farley and Brad Ringler and her husband Jerome (Jerry) T. Stockinger.
Eleanor graduated from New London High School in 1943 and continued her education in general business classes. In 1946, she moved to California "temporarily" to help her sister take care of her new baby. She met the love of her life, Jerry, almost immediately and they married soon after. The California move became permanent and they eventually settled in Harbor City where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Eleanor was a whiz at numbers and found success as a Credit Manager and Bookkeeper at Chandler's Sand and Gravel in Lomita, where she worked for over 20 years. During that time, she helped incorporate the city of Lomita. When she wasn't working you could find her enjoying her favorite hobbies listening to music or playing the organ, dancing, dining at fine restaurants and antiquing where she amassed a collection of fine crystal, jewelry and unique collectibles. Eleanor and Jerry had one daughter, Nancy. As a family they were very active in their church, Christ Lutheran in San Pedro, enjoyed traveling, cooking and entertaining. Eleanor LOVED people, made new friends easily, and kept in touch with all. She could have easily been a coach or mentor as she loved listening to peoples' concerns and giving advice. After retirement from Chandler's, she was able to mesh her passions for jewelry and antiques when she went to work for Janet Gunter at Reminisce in San Pedro.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Nancy and her husband Steve Guentner of Irvine, CA; grandson, Jeffrey Guentner of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Florence Burris of Torrance, CA and Jeanette Ringler of Greenwich, Ohio; sister- in- law, Esther Farley of Mansfield Ohio; nieces Janet Burris and Elaine Herkelrath of Torrance, Melanie (Farley) Cook, Tommi-Ann (Farley) Johnson and Amy (Farley) Gannon of Ohio; nephews, Douglas Graham, Timothy Farley and Michael Farley of CA; Terry Farley of Georgia, and Mitchell Farley, Kenneth Farley and Rodney Stober of Ohio.
