Earl John Theaker

May 14, 1927 — July 8, 2020

Earl J. Theaker (May 14, 1927 - July 8, 2020)

Earl was born May 14, 1927 in the first Torrance Memorial Hospital near downtown Torrance, this made Earl a Charter member of the currently existing Torrance Memorial Hospital. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was also a lifelong resident of Lomita, California and a graduate of Narbonne High School.

Earl's military service included having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Earl met Jean, his beloved wife of almost 71 years, at Compton College while attending under the GI Bill. During that time, he also received his Private Pilot's license. They have four children, Susan (Walt) Stanton, Robert (Bonnita) Theaker, Laura (Roger) Hart, and Patti Theaker; four grandsons; and six great-grandsons.

He retired from the Engineering Department of North American/Rockwell after 32 years of service, a job he dearly loved. He then decided to work 8 more years with Northrop/Grumman. He was a lifetime member of the National Management Association, past Chairman of the North American Aviation Bald Eagles, and a past Editor of the North American Aviation Retiree News.

Earl was a faithful long-time member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Lomita, and took pride in helping to build the new church. He was a member of the Cradle Role, an Elder for nearly 60 years, and loved singing in the choir amongst so many other activities the church offered. Earl was also a 35 year Life Member of the San Pedro Elk's #966, and had also been quite active in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Lomita Little League Baseball Association. Earl loved to build model airplanes and ship models, and did most of his own carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work - never afraid to tackle any project. A real Do-It-Yourselfer.

Above all else, Earl loved his family deeply and spent as much time as he could with each family member.
