David Dale Thayer, 72, passed away May 26, 2021 with his loving wife by his side.
David was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 6, 1949, the son of the late Frederick N. and Mary (Hayden) Thayer. He graduated from Boardman High School in Youngstown, served six years in the U.S. Air Force, attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio and moved to California in the early 1980's. David worked for and retired from Ralph's Super Market, which then gave him the opportunity to pursue his passion of golf. He could not wait for Monday to come soon enough so he could have the chance to spend some time with his golf bodies, and how much fun they all had.
David is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maria Cristina (Solano) Thayer, a brother, Dennis E. Thayer of Youngstown, his daughter, Heather Marie (James) Jones and granddaughter Emily Ann Thomas all of Louisville, Kentucky. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Donald N. Thayer.
David was always a gentleman - well-mannered and polite, but always quick with a witty remark. His joviality and good nature attracted people the moment he walked in the room, David was a hardworking and giving man. He was a soul mate and inspiration to his wife, a steadfast rock that helped her through thick and thin, and he was always there to help navigate through life's challenges. David may be in heaven now, but I know he is looking down at us with a big smile on his face saying, "Forge ahead - make the best of life - and I'll see you soon. We have work to do up here, too."
Goodbye, my dear, sweet husband, wonderful brother and great friend to all of those who knew him best, and God bless.
