Barbara was raised in Tulsa, OK and moved to Oregon. She married the love of her life, Karl Sr. in 1953 and settled in Torrance, California. She remained in the new home they bought together when she passed.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to her Pandora Christian music, and watching her favorite shows on TV. She lived a long and happy life filled with close ties and adventures with her big sisters and their respective families and accompanying her husband to his many Lomita City and Lions Club events. She was a very active mom, grandmother, and volunteer in her community. She was a regular Sunday School attendee at Narbonne Avenue Baptist Church (now The Bay Church) for years and faithfully kept up with services remotely up until the end.

In death, she joins her beloved husband of 58 years, Karl Kottke, Sr., her parents, and her siblings Kenneth, LaVata, Sweeney, Oleta, Jack, Fred, John Ray, Mary, Hazel, Patsy Dean, and Patricia Ann.
